Adding Patients

Patients can be added:

  1. Manually - Enter patient information through the UI
  2. Via EMR - Automatically created from ADT (admit/discharge/transfer) messages

Manual Entry

  1. Navigate to Patients
  2. Tap Add Patient
  3. Enter patient information
  4. Select observation level
  5. Assign to a room
  6. Tap Save

EMR Import

When EMR integration is enabled, patients are automatically:

  • Created on ADT A01 (admit) messages
  • Updated on ADT A02 (transfer) messages
  • Discharged on ADT A03 (discharge) messages

See EMR Integration for setup details.

Risk Flags

Risk flags highlight patients requiring special attention:

FlagDescription
Fall RiskPatient at elevated risk of falling
Elopement RiskPatient may attempt to leave
Self-Harm RiskPatient at risk of self-harm
Assault RiskPatient may pose risk to others

Risk flags:

  • Display prominently on patient cards
  • Can trigger additional sensor monitoring
  • Are included in handoff notes

Wristband Assignment

Patients can be assigned BLE wristbands for proximity verification and safety monitoring:

  1. Open patient details
  2. Navigate to Devices
  3. Select an available wristband from the unit pool
  4. Confirm assignment

The wristband enables:

  • Distance-based proximity verification for observations
  • Real-time patient list ordering (nearest patients first)
  • Fall detection (via built-in accelerometer)
  • Elopement detection (with geofencing)
  • Wristband health monitoring (battery, tamper, connectivity)

Discharge

When a patient is discharged:

  1. Open patient details
  2. Tap Discharge
  3. Confirm the discharge

Discharged patients:

  • No longer appear in active patient lists
  • Historical observations remain accessible
  • Can be readmitted later (creating a new admission record)

With EMR integration, discharges happen automatically via ADT messages.
